As part of this policy revision, Davidson publishes annually a three-year summary of sexual misconduct reports received by the college that fall under the colleges policy jurisdiction, including information about the outcome of complaints heard by the Davidson Sexual Misconduct Board SMB. The college publishes this report to inform our community about Davidson's response to reports of sexual misconduct and to promote increased awareness of sexual misconduct on our campus. To protect confidentiality, no names are included in these summaries, and three years of data are included to further ensure those students who have requested complete confidentiality are not identifiable by this report.

Sexual violence is notoriously difficult to measure, and there is no single source of data that provides a complete picture of the crime. Based on those interviews, the study provides estimates of the total number of crimes, including those that were not reported to police. While NCVS has a number of limitations most importantly, children under age 12 are not included , overall, it is the most reliable source of crime statistics in the U.
